Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 3/4 C butter, softened
  • 3/4 C white sugar
  • 3/4 C dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2.5 C all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5-1 tsp salt
  • 2 C dark chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 and prepare two baking sheets
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter, sugars, and maple syrup until combined
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition
  4. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and salt
  5. Gradually add flour mixture to the wet mixture. Beat or stir until combined
  6. Add in chocolate chips and stir until combined
  7. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto baking sheets and bake for 12-14 minutes
  8. Remove from oven and let cool on baking sheet for about 10 minutes. Once the baking sheet is cool to touch, transfer cookies to a wire cooling rack to finish

Possible substitutions and additions:

  • Substitute equal parts of vanilla extract for maple syrup
  • Substitute equal parts oats for flour
  • Substitute semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips for dark, or use a 50/50 mix
